PROMENADE OBLIGATOIRE

PROMENADE OBLIGATOIRE is an uninterrupted crossing along the timeline. From compact mass to molecular chains, from ideally ordered formations resembling military parades to differentiation, the dancers are going through a succession of evanescent states. They make up a moving matter endowed with collective memory, whose past evolutions are re-emerging cyclically, confronting to oblivion, to instinct and to the desire of creation. Along this living timeline, the human being struggles alternately against determinism and against his own imprisonment.

In Yevgeny Zamyatin’s We, the promenade is a march in rows of four, in which the state of synchronization appears like a victory over the uncertainty of Nature. “Why is the dance beautiful?
